Questions to Ask An Installer

In some cases, it may be beneficial to hire a professional to install your smart devices, and especially those that require direct wiring. Most electricians, home improvement and heating-ventilation and air-conditioning contractors can install smart devices. To ensure that you hire the right contractor for the job, and at the right price, we recommend interviewing at least three in your area. During your interviews, we recommend that you ask the following questions.

  1. What type(s) of smart devices do you install and how long have you been in the installation buisness?
  2. Does your installation service include device set-up and user operating guidance?
  3. What is the cost of your installation service and what types of payment do you accept?
  4. What guarantees and/or warranties do you offer on the installation?
  5. Have you completed any accessibility training for device set-up assistance to seniors or persons with disabilities?
  6. Can you provide me with three references?
