Dr. Susan Crawford

Dr. Crawford is Professor and Director Emeritus of the Biomedical Communication Center at Washington University School of Medicine, former Director and Vice President of Information Sciences for the American Medical Association, and Director of the Science and Medical Information Program at Columbia University. Her long career spanned an era of change in which the health sciences evolved to a multidisciplinary science heavy in research, administration, technology, and socioeconomics. She was instrumental in reorganizing the biomedical communications system for the United States which now operates under the National Library of Medicine. She continues to consult for the National Institute of Health and has authored 135 books / journal articles on biomedical communication. Dr. Crawford holds four degrees in liberal arts, information science, biological and social sciences and information technology form the universities of British Columbia, Toronto and Chicago.
